Proxima Centauri is also an association, created to organise all the activities of the ensemble  and to promote the contemporary music with different actions.

Since 2004, it organises the « Musical Season of Proxima Centauri » and produces exchanges with several guest ensembles for the OPUS, regular rendez-vous in Bordeaux’s concerts hall. Theses events are the occasion to invite different artists from Europe and permit to the audience to discover ensembles like Vortex, Espai Sonor, L’Itinéraire, Musicatreize…

Based in Bordeaux, the Proxima Centauri association carries out its activities in concert halls, community and alternative cultural venues, and in schools and music colleges; it organises the Académie MIXTE, an international academy of musical creation for young composers and performers; and it runs a music season across the Bordeaux metropolitan area comprising recurring events — OPUS, SPOT, Festival MÀD — offering a variety of formats for engaging with musical creation.
